According to the Tao theory about the Five Elemental Forces, every one of the five main organs corresponds to a specific natural element. These elements are water, fire, wood, metal and earth. They represent five processes of energy or five natural forces.
In a human organism the element of water corresponds to the kidneys, fire to the heart, wood to the liver, earth to the spleen sand metal to the lungs.

The Five Elements are interconnected and they interact in particular ways.
For example, when wood comes into contact with fire, the strength of fire increases. Wood supports fire, fire supports earth, earth supports metal, metal supports water, and water supports wood. This interaction portrayed in a pentagram creates a supporting cycle.
Organs in the human body are subject to the same cycle. When the heart needs to be strengthened, the liver must be strengthened first, if we need to support the kidneys, we must strengthen the lungs first. Similarly the heart gives energy to the spleen, the spleen supports the lungs, kidneys support the liver, and the liver supports the heart. The interconnection of our organism with the outer world is classified according to the theory of the five elements.
The five colors that we perceive through our vision correspond to the five organs, heart - red, kidneys - blue, spleen - yellow, liver - green, lungs - white. Each color has a series of tone variations.
The five tastes that we perceive through our gustatory receptors also correspond to the five organs. Sour taste belongs to the liver, savory or meaty to the lungs, bitter to the heart, salty to the kidneys, and sweet to the spleen.
The five sounds that we perceive through our hearing correspond to the five organs. The five elements are oriented in space in the following manner: fire - South, water - North, metal - West, wood - East, earth - center.
